Dwayne Johnson has opened up about whether he’d return to WWE after his surprise appearance on SmackDown last week.
As wrestling fans are left thirsty for more WWE content from The Rock, they may not be left disappointed.
Nearly a decade has passed since the permanently booked and busy actor routinely wrestled for WWE.

He had a spontaneous match lasting six-second match at WWE’s WrestleMania 32 in 2016.
And before that, his WWE run lasted around three months leading up to WrestleMania 29 in 2019, when he lost to fellow wrestler-also-turned-actor John Cena.
In the years that have passed since, his acting career has exploded, with Johnson going on to star roles in films like Jumanji, the Fast & Furious franchise, Baywatch, Rampage, Black Adam, Jungle Cruise, and the list truly goes on.
And that’s without taking into account all the other films he’s signed up for.
But with all the acting projects on the horizon, the wrestling legend hasn’t ruled out a return to WWE, however, as Johnson made a surprise appearance on WWE's SmackDown on Friday (15 September).

And in a recent interview on The Pat McAfee Show last Friday, the 51-year-old said he was in talks with longtime WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, about returning for a match against fellow WWE icon Roman Reigns, who also just so happens to be his real-life cousin.
The match would have taken place at WrestleMania 39 in April, but sadly the plans never came to fruition.
Despite the previous setback, Johnson confirmed that a match could happen, albeit at WrestleMania 40 next April.
“There’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia, I’m saying that that’s a potential too, so I’m open,” Johnson said.

“But again, let’s figure out what that is because the fans deserve something just incredible and unprecedented. And not only that, I always want to deliver to the locker room, and the boys and the girls back there that are working their asses off.
"What can we do that can put them in position to be a part of something that is a new change and era in this world of pro wrestling?”
Johnson added that he’s not so worried about injuries and is actually more concerned about putting on a good show for his fans.

“Honestly brother, it’s not the injury that I’m concerned about because that’s just part of it,” he admitted.
“It’s just part of the game you sign up for. You get hurt, we all get hurt. That’s just the way it is. It’s not even the schedule, because I can control the schedule to a large degree.
"Me going back to WWE and wrestling a match, it always comes down to the reason why and what can we create that’s never been done before for the fans.”
