Fans think Britney Spears alluded to her abortion in one of her most iconic music videos

They say the video takes on a new meaning after she claimed she was once pregnant with Justin Timberlake's baby

Britney Spears has revealed that she once had an abortion while dating Justin Timberlake, and now fans are adamant she actually alluded to this years ago.

The news has come from the pop star's upcoming memoir The Woman in Me, where she claimed the Hollywood power couple were once expecting to be parents.

It apparently happened in the year 2000 when they were only teenagers.

However, Britney recounts Justin not being ready to be a father and it was decided that she would have an abortion.

The pop star's supporters believe Spears referenced this moment in one of her most iconic music videos.

Britney's memoir comes out this month.

In 'Everytime', she swapped her regular poppy sound for a ballad.

She sings: "And every time I try to fly I fall/Without my wings/I feel so small/I guess I need you baby/And every time I see/You in my dreams/I see your face/It's haunting me/I guess I need you baby."

While the reference to 'baby' could allude to a love interest, some reckon it's for her unborn child.

The song was released in 2003, which was just one year after she and Justin broke up.

In the music video, it shows Britney being hounded by paparazzi and getting into arguments with a man.

At the end, she's seen in a hospital standing with just a white shirt while a woman gives birth to a baby girl behind her.

Backing vocalist Annet Artani claimed 'Everytime' was a response to Timberlake's 'Cry Me A River', which he wrote after he had a fight during his relationship to Spears.

Artani told MuuMuse: "He was getting personal. Here, she had a different type of image, and he was really exposing some stuff that she probably didn't want out there, and in front of her little sister...I remember her sister being mortified and her being mortified.

"I'm sure that that really hurt her."

While critics assumed the baby being born in the 'Everytime' music video was meant to represent her reincarnation, fans think her revelation about being pregnant changes the video.

In her memoir, she said: "It was a surprise, but for me, it wasn’t a tragedy. I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day.

"This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated.

"But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young."

UNILAD has reached out to Timberlake's representatives for comment.

After having intense discussions, Britney opted for an abortion.

"If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father," she said.

Britney explained that it was one of the 'most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my life'.
