Israel rips into Gigi Hadid after she criticized the government for its treatment of Palestine

The official government account told the American model to wake up.

The State of Israel has not held back in its criticism of Gigi Hadid.

The model has been vocal about her heartbreak for the plight of Palestinians as well as the deaths of Israelis following Hamas' terrorist attack.

The terror organization launched a coordinated assault on Israel earlier this month that has so far killed at least 1,400 people.

The Israeli Defence Force has retaliated by sending a barrage of seemingly endless airstrikes into Gaza, which have killed at least 2,600 people.

Hadid, who has Palestinian heritage through her father, recently posted on Instagram saying there is 'nothing Jewish about the Israeli government's treatment of Palestinians'.

"Condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic and supporting Palestinians is not supporting Hamas," she added.

Well, the State of Israel's Instagram account didn't take too kindly to that.

It replied on social media, saying: "Have you been sleeping the past week? Or are you just fine turning a blind eye to Jewish babies being butchered in their homes? Your silence has been very clear about where you stand. We see you.”

It also shared a photo of what they claimed was a child's room that was covered in blood following a Hamas attack.

However, the State of Israel's response to Gigi Hadid hasn't gone down well.

Many thought it was strange for a verified government account to be engaging in celebrities when they're in the middle of a war and reeling from a terror attack.

"So weird how concerned Israel is about Gigi Hadid’s stance when they’re actively in a war right now," wrote one user.

Another added: "A country having social media beef with a celebrity is kinda pathetic."

A third wrote: "This is embarrassment for the government to come after a celebrity they can do better."

Gigi spoke out about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East last week in a social media post.

"My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy, and every day that innocent lives are taken by this conflict too many of which are children," she said.

"I have deep empathy and heartbreak for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it's a responsibility I hold daily.

"I also feel a responsibility to my Jewish friends to make it clear, as I have before: While I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include the harm of a Jewish person."

She explained that terrorizing innocent people doesn't align with the 'Free Palestine' movement.

"The idea that it does has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of back&forth retaliation (which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a casualty of), and helps perpetuate the false idea that being Pro-Palestine = antisemitic," she continued.

"If you are hurting, as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, both Palestinian and Jewish, I'm sending you my love & strength — whoever and wherever you are."
