Jackass star Bam Margera says he's now over 100 days sober

The former stuntman has previously been open about his struggles with addiction and substance abuse

Jackass star Bam Margera has revealed he's 100 days sober after struggling with substance abuse and addiction.

The former stuntman has long been open about his experience with addiction, having previously undergone a year-long drug and alcohol treatment programme in a bid to get sober.

In April this year, Margera shared an Instagram post to declare he would 'stop drinking'.

Indicating it was his son, Phoenix, who had inspired him to give up alcohol, Margera wrote: “For the sake of Phoenix the wolf. Today is the day I will stop drinking."

Now, Margera has announced that he is 100 days sober having received ongoing help and support from his girlfriend, Dannii, as well as - in a slightly less direct way - Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg.

The Jackass star credited the gym and skateboarding for helping him stay focused on his sobriety, telling TMZ that he and Dannii work out daily, and recently he found himself working out in a gym covered with images of Wahlberg.

While it might seem like a pretty a random attempt at motivation, the reason for the images was actually down to the gym's owner, Jarred Taylor.

Taylor previously worked closely with Wahlberg on the 2013 war movie Lone Survivor, prompting Taylor to decorate his gym with stills from some of Wahlberg's movies.

After he successfully reached the milestone of being 100 days sober, Margera decided to send a video to Wahlberg to let him know how he was getting on.

"What up Mark, it's Bam Margera here with Dannii," the stuntman said in the clip obtained by TMZ.

Wahlberg responded to the clip to praise Margera for his persistence, saying: "Thank you so much for the video bro. I'm so happy for you and your sobriety. 120 days, wow, God bless you bro, hope you and your family are well.

"I look forward to connecting with you soon, always been such a big fan. I look forward to seeing your brother. I'm in Vegas, when you get out this way let's get together."

Margera told TMZ he's planning to take Wahlberg up on his offer, with the pair having previously connected years ago at awards shows and parties.

As he's now been cleared to see his son, Margera plans to drive to Vegas to catch up with Wahlberg before heading on to California to see his Phoenix.

For now, however, Margera is working on a new movie in Texas, as well as developing new artwork for a clothing company.
