A few years before Katy Perry found herself in a legal dispute with a veteran over a house, the singer faced a battle with a nun who collapsed and died during their court proceedings.
Perry and her partner Orlando Bloom are currently involved in a three-year legal suit with 83-year-old Carl Westcott, who claims he sold the celebrity couple their $15 million house while of 'unsound mind' in 2020.
In the years before the sale, the 'California Gurls' singer was involved in a legal battle with two elderly nuns over the sale of an eight-acre convent in Los Angeles.
The dispute began in 2015, after Sister Catherine Rose Holzman and the sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary sold the convent to restaurateur Dana Hollister.

The property included 30,000 square feet of living space and a pool, but the archdiocese argued the nuns didn't have the right to sell the property to Hollister, and instead approved a sale to Perry.
A judge ruled against the nuns in 2016 and declared the $15.5 million sale to Hollister as invalid, but it wasn't until 2018 that Holzman appeared in Los Angeles County Court for a post-judgment hearing.
While she was in court, Holzman, who was 89 years old, collapsed and died.
Just hours earlier Holzman was interviewed by a local Fox news station and pleaded with Perry 'to please stop' pursuing the purchase.

"It's not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people," she said at the time.
Following Holzman's death the convent was put back on the market, but Perry's legal troubles aren't over yet.
She and Bloom are now looking ahead at a trial against Westcott, who has alleged he sold his house while being heavily medicated after taking 'several intoxicating pain-killing opiates'.

"In addition to [Westcott’s] frailty from advanced age and poor heath [sic] from Huntington’s Disease, [Westcott] had a major six-hour surgery less than a week before the proposed contract to sell his home was presented to him on July 14, 2020," court documents from the Los Angeles County Superior Court claimed.
The two stars have not been named as parties in the suit, but Bernie Gudvi, the business manager who represented them during the sale of the home, has been listed as the primary defendant.
The non-jury trial is set to begin at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles on 21 August.
