Original Power Rangers star sparks outrage after launching clothing line with quotes from Hitler

Austin St John was the original Red Power Ranger in the 90s series

The actor who played the Red Power Ranger in the 90s series Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers has come under fire over a clothing line he released.

Austin St John played Jason Lee Scott, aka the Red Power Ranger in the series, and announced that he was releasing a 'Warrior' line of clothes.

This would feature quotes from famous historical figures, including some who definitely should not have their quotes on a t-shirt.

Yes, we do indeed mean *that* historical figure.

The actor confirmed that his new clothing line would include some t-shirts with quotes by Adolf Hitler printed on them.

He explained that he had wanted to have quotes of 'warriors of all ilks' and not shy away from the 'terrible ones'.

Including quotes from bad people, he clarified, was intended to encourage to reflect on history, good and bad.

“I’m building a ‘Warrior’ line, where I will go back in history from pre-Greek days, as far back as I can," he told the podcast Toon'd In With Jim Cummings.

“I’m gonna have famous quotes from warriors of all ilks, including the terrible ones."

He added: "Hitler was, you know, a demon on steroids, but he had some pretty good one-liners.

"So everybody from the great ones to the infamous and terrible ones.”

The actor added: “The point is to look to our past, to leaders both good and terrible and take from them what you can.”

Fellow Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers alumnus Amy Jo Johnson, who played the Pink Power Ranger, tweeted about the proposed line of clothes.

She said: "Hmmm? I think some people should have publicists. Dear me…"

In another tweet, she wrote: "Rogue Red Ranger has an entire new meaning. Okay I’ll stop now."

People took to the comments to share their thoughts on the clothing line.

While some weren't sure exactly what she meant with the first comment, her second tweet made it very clear exactly what she meant.

One joked: "Might we call that a 'red' flag?", while another posted: "Oh, how the mighty and morphin' have fallen."

The clothing line also features quotes from people such as Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee.

When UNILAD visited St John's website we did not find any items with quotes from Hitler for sale at the time of publication.

UNILAD has reached out to a representative of Austin St John for comment.
