After the explosive allegations about comedian Russell Brand emerged over the weekend, an interview with his ex-wife Katy Perry has resurfaced.
In the 2013 interview, the 'Fireworks' singer hinted that she found out the ‘real truth’ about the comedian-turned-YouTuber after their divorce.

She also described Brand as ‘very controlling’, echoing comments made by his alleged victims in the Dispatches documentary that aired in the UK this weekend.
The Channel 4 programme was part of a joint investigation with The Times and the Sunday Times, with an article also being published on Saturday about the allegations.
In the documentary and article, four women alleged that Brand assaulted them during the height of fame whilst appearing on TV and in Hollywood blockbusters.

Taking place between 2006 and 2013, one of the victims claims to have been just 16 years old when her assault took place. At the time, the TV personality was 31.
Meanwhile, another woman has alleged that Brand emotionally and physically abused her.
A third stated that she was threatened with legal action, having been assaulted whilst she and the former comic worked together.
The fourth woman also claims to have been assaulted by Brand, with a rape occurring at his LA home.

Those involved in the allegations have remained anonymous, with the investigation going on for several years with journalists accessing texts and medical notes and examining Brand’s biography.
Whilst he denies the allegations, his former wife Katy Perry seemingly hinted about this in a chilling 2013 interview about their divorce.
Whilst she hasn't yet commented on any of the alleged assaults, in a 2013 interview with Vogue, she claimed she had found out the ‘real truth’ about her former husband.
Continuing, she revealed that she felt guilt about her marriage ending after their divorce, saying: “I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth. I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day.”
She also described her former spouse as ‘very controlling’, saying that he’d become increasingly uncomfortable with her touring.

She explained: “At first, when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, ‘I can’t handle the equalness,’.”
The couple were married around the time of the alleged assaults, having met on Get Him to the Greek in 2009 and marrying in 2010.
Just 14 months later though, the couple would be divorced.
