Snoop Dogg announces he has quit smoking weed

Snoop Dogg without weed, it's hard to imagine

Something most people probably didn't have on their 2023 bingo card, notorious weed smoker Snoop Dogg has announced he has quit smoking weed.

The rapper doesn't shy away from the fact he just really loves getting high, whether it be having a quick joint before his 2022 Super Bowl performance or sending fans into a frenzy fighting over the opportunity to become his full-time blunt roller.

The move will certainly come as a surprise to much of the internet as you don't really think about Snoop without thinking about how much he smokes, as he often speaks about it openly.

Taking to Instagram, the rapper penned: "After much consideration and conversation with my family, I've decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time."

Snoop may have lost track of the countless times he's lit up a spliff, but there's one time which he believes he was the most stoned he's ever been.

Snoop was with legendary country musician Willie Nelson on 4/20 in Amsterdam. Couldn't be more fitting, eh?

In an interview with SiriusXM last year, Snoop said Nelson had performed in the city on the 19th and he performed on the 20th.

Snoop recalled: "So we went back to his hotel room and we was playing dominoes. So Willie had a vape, a joint, I had a blunt and he had a pipe.

"Me and him were playing dominoes one-on-one, he whipping my a** and I was just getting higher and higher and he keeps passing it to me and I was like, 'This old motherf***er's out-smoking me'.

"And I'm trying to stop but I can't because I don't want to show no signs of weakness."

However, Snoop did eventually admit defeat and '15 minutes into the session' asked Nelson if they could get something to eat, ending up at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC).

The rapper said: "Me and Willie both put our hands in the bucket at the same time and we grabbed the same piece of chicken and I'm looking at Willie and I say, 'It's yours cuz.'"

Nelson - who Snoop has previously admitted is the only person he believes could out-smoke him - subsequently proved victorious not only in out-smoking Snoop, but also in grabbing the first bite of chicken it seems.

But those fun weed shenanigans are certainly a thing of the past thanks to Snoop's recent announcement.

Whatever makes you happy, Snoop.
