Tattoo artist documents ‘surreal’ experience after she was flown to Las Vegas to tattoo Katy Perry

The artist was flown out to Sin City to tattoo the singer and her staff members.

Finding a tattoo artist that you really like can be very difficult, so once you find someone you do like, you'll happily travel out of your way to see them.

In fairness, if something is on your body forever, you want to have every confidence in the person who's going to do it.

Henceforth, travelling between cities doesn't seem to be entirely off the table.

But Katy Perry has taken things to a whole other level.

The singer actually paid for a tattoo artist to fly out to Las Vegas for them to have a tattoo session together.

When you're a celebrity, you don't go to your tattoo artist, your tattoo artist comes to you.

Tattoo artist Liz Kim, 31, is usually based in Los Angeles in California, but posted on her Instagram how she flew to Las Vegas for a party commemorating the end of Perry's residency at Resorts World Las Vegas.

It wasn't just the singer that Kim was tattooing either; it was also members of her team who wanted a tattoo to commemorate the experience.

She said: "Katy Perry and her team provided me with a few reference photos for the design. They specifically wanted a mushroom as it's a strong theme for her residency, and also makes for a nice tattoo!"

The video also shows a number of the mushroom tattoos which staff had, in places from their wrists to behind their ears.

Kim was flown out along with her friend and fellow tattoo artist Shannon Elliott, with the pair working together to administer the tattoos.

She said: "It's not every day you get flown out somewhere to tattoo that many people, let alone a superstar and the people who help run the show."

In a post of her own, Perry explained that it is a 'tradition' and 'a little bit of a ritual' on her tours for her to bring out a tattoo artist.

The designs are often done to reflect the nature of the show in some way and give people who worked on the show something to remember it by.

Perry's husband, Orlando Bloom, is also no stranger to getting a tattoo to commemorate a big role or tour. Bloom was among the members of the Fellowship of the Ring from Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings.

He and the other actors in the fellowship, aside from John Rhys-Davies, all had the word 'Nine' in the fictional Tengwar script tattooed on them as a commemoration.
