Taylor Swift has revealed that she ended up moving to a different country in the fallout from her infamous phone call with Kanye West.
Swift, who was named TIME's Person of the Year 2023, described how she was painted as a liar after Kim Kardashian leaked a portion of the call.
The conversation took place in 2016, and saw West asking Swift for permission to use her name in his song 'Famous'.

But when the track was released Swift objected to a lyric which referred to her as a 'b***h'.
Kim Kardashian, who was married to West at the time, posted an edited version of the call as 'proof' that Swift had approved.
Swift responded with a statement in which she claimed that the extract did not tell the full story, saying: "Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that b***h' in his song? It doesn't exist because it never happened."
She added: "Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination."
The situation escalated further when West also used a nude waxwork of Swift in the song's music video.

Eventually the full 23-minute-long video of the phone call surfaced online, and vindicated Swift's account of the situation.
But the damage had already been done, with Swift saying that she had to move to a new country.

Speaking about the impact that the debacle had on her, Swift told TIME: “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar. That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before.
"I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”

This was not the first time that Swift and West had publicly tangled, either.
In 2009 Swift was given the award for Best Female Video at the MTV Music Awards for her song 'You Belong With Me'.
West interrupted Swift's acceptance speech, grabbing the microphone and saying: "Taylor Swift, I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"
While their relationship had thawed somewhat by the mid-2010s, the phone call incident saw another swift cooling of relations.
