Nicki Minaj Shows Off 'Perfect' Northern Irish Accent

The rapper received praise in the studio and beyond after taking on the impression.

Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj has been applauded for the Northern Irish accent she showed off on The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The Super Bass singer appeared on the talk show last week, where she kicked Corden out of his chair and insisted the pair share the spotlight while opening the show.

Having established themselves as a presenting duo, Corden and Minaj began to deliver news which included discussions about Queen Elizabeth II and the guest appearance of Sir Kenneth Branagh on the show. Naturally, this led to the pair discussing accents, after which Minaj showed off her impressive Northern Irish twang.

Check it out below:

Minaj's impression of people from across the pond began with Corden encouraging her to speak in a British accent after he did his own take on someone from Scotland.

The rapper seemed game to put her skills on show, barely hesitating to prepare herself before she responded in a British accent to say 'well, this morning I woke up and I felt rather brilliantly spectacular'. As a British person I can't say I've ever had that particular phrase pass my lips, but Minaj's impression was definitely recognisable and prompted a round of applause from the crowd.

After berating Corden for his use of the phrase 'properly good', Minaj then attempted to take on a Northern Irish accent, inspired by Branagh who grew up in Belfast.

The Late Late Show host encouraged the rapper to take on the phrase 'get out now', which Minaj instantly nailed before become slightly more baffled by the addition of 'so it is'.

After clarifying exactly what Corden was saying, she confidently took on the phrase and earned even more cheers from the crowd.

The praise spread far beyond the studio as viewers took to social media to commend Minaj for her efforts, which even earned approval from someone from County Armagh in Northern Ireland, indicating exactly how perfect she managed to make it.

The Twitter user, who goes by Stella A H on the platform, responded: 'Apart from the wrong use of, "so it is".. It's pretty close to my wee Norn Irish accent from @JKCorden and @NICKIMINAJ... (cept I'm from Co. Armagh) [sic]'.

Another impressed viewer commented: 'Hearing Nicki Minaj do a Northern Irish accent has made my life.'

Minaj certainly seems to have a knack for accents, but only time will tell whether she chooses to show off any new ones in the future!
