Olivia Wilde Served Custody Documents On Stage At CinemaCon Following Jason Sudeikis Split

Olivia Wilde received child custody documents from former fiancée Jason Sudeikis while at CinemaCon.

On Tuesday, 26 April, Wilde presented the trailer for her upcoming psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling at the movie theatre convention held at Caesar's Palace.

However, while on stage, an envelope labelled 'personal and confidential' was slid across to the Love the Coopers actress.

Upon receiving the envelope, Wilde questioned: "This is for me?"

The director opened it while on stage, however remained unfazed by its contents.

The envelope was first reported as containing child custody papers by Deadline, yesterday, 27 April.

A source close to Sudeikis has since told Variety that the We're The Millers actor 'had no prior knowledge' that his ex-partner would receive the documents in such a way.

They said: "Papers were drawn up to establish jurisdiction relating to the children of Ms. Wilde and Mr. Sudeikis.

"Mr. Sudeikis had no prior knowledge of the time or place that the envelope would have been delivered as this would solely be up to the process service company involved and he would never condone her being served in such an inappropriate manner."

In response to the incident, head of CinemaCon Mitch Neuhauser has stated the movie theatre convention will 'reevaluate' its security protocols.

"We have never in the history of the convention had an incident where a delegate has approached the stage who was not authorized to be there. In light of this incident, we are reevaluating our security procedures to ensure the safety of all our attendees.

"We will act accordingly because it’s the right thing to do. We want to do the safe, proper thing," he said.

However, according to senior reporter for Vulture, Chris Lee, 'a well-placed CinemaCon source' revealed 'whoever served her [Wilde] with those documents had all the right credential including the covid vax bracelet and ID lanyard that convention delegates have to wear'.

"Nothing about this was haphazard of left to chance," Lee tweeted.

Wilde and Sudeikis first met on Saturday Night Live in 2011, and they announced their engagement in 2013.

The actors share two children, eight-year-old Otis and six-year-old Daisy.

They have been separated since November 2020.

Don't Worry Darling, directed by and starring Wilde, also features musician Harry Styles – who Wilde is currently dating – and Black Widow star Florence Pugh.

It is set to hit cinemas on 23 September, 2022.
