The town of Syracuse got its own back on Pete Davidson over the weekend after the Saturday Night Live star showed up in the city he once labelled 'trash.'

Davidson's spat with the New York college town went viral a few years back after the comedian took a number of jabs at the area, after spending time there to film the movie Big Time Adolescent alongside Machine Gun Kelly.

In 2018, he told Howard Stern during an appearance on his SiriusXM show, 'Dude, I was shooting this movie out in Syracuse. Syracuse, you know, it's trash. Worse than Staten Island. The nicest hotel in Syracuse is, like, a f***ing Ramada.'

He then doubled-down on his attack on the town a year later, saying during an interview with Variety, 'It sucks. The whole town of Syracuse blows,' while claiming he was 'hunted down' by the town's police after they pulled him over for a traffic violation.

Unsurprisingly, the comments didn't go down to well with Syracuse natives at the time, and they finally got a chance to make their feelings clear to the star when he returned to town to watch Syracuse university's college basketball team.

During a time-out in the game between Syracuse University Orange and the Louisville Cardinals, Davidson was put up on the jumbotron, leading to widespread boos from his fellow spectators.

Unsurprisingly, Davidson immediately saw the funny side, and was seen cracking up alongside his friends as the jeers rang out in the arena.

To be fair to the 28-year-old, Davidson has repeatedly tried to make amends with Syracuse, later saying that he didn't actually 'hate' the town, and clarifying that his past comments 'just didn't really come out the best way'.

Last year, Davidson waved another white flag with the town by wearing an SU sweatshirt during an appearance on SNL's Weekend Update, and he seems to have further embraced the town's university in the time since, wearing an SU hat and sunglasses to the game over the weekend.

According to Syracuse.com, Davidson was in attendance courtside at the Orange's game as a special guest of local businessman Adam Weitsman, who could also be seen laughing as his pal got booed.

His trip to Syracuse comes a week after Davidson was spotted arriving for dinner at the home of none other than richest-man-alive Jeff Bezos, along with his partner, Kim Kardashian.
