PewDiePie says bye to YouTube ahead of the imminent birth of his first child

The YouTuber is taking a break as he expects his first child soon

Popular YouTuber PewDiePie has announced that he's taking a break from the platform in anticipation of the birth of his first child.

The 33-year-old, real name Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, is soon to become a father as his wife Marzia is about to have the couple's first child together.

He made the announcement back in February to his millions of followers on YouTube where he revealed that the couple first found out there was a baby on the way back in November.

At the time he said it was 'kinda strange' but that he was also 'so excited' to be starting a family with 'the woman I love'.

Fans immediately started joking that the baby was going to have a tough time keeping up with all the languages their parents knew, as the child will have a Swedish father and Italian mother who have homes in Japan and the UK.

Felix Kjellberg and wife Marzia are set to welcome their first child together, but it means he'll be off YouTube for a while.

While it's apparently easier to learn languages at a young age that's still going to be a lot of lingo to pick up, and the fan interest in PewDiePie junior hasn't stopped.

They also reckon they've worked out what gender the baby will be after a gender reveal party, where it was announced that they'd be having a 'fish' and that certain people would know what it meant.

Internet sleuths reckon that the link is to the Japanese national holiday Tango no sekku which celebrates male children, so we'll have to wait and see if they were right about that.

The YouTuber announced in a recent video that the baby was 'getting very close now' but that meant he was going to be off the platform for a while.

He said: "Just wanted to say, it's getting very close now. Very close to becoming a dad. I'm very, very, very excited.

The couple announced the baby was on the way in February and it's almost time for the baby to be due.

"I don't know what it's gonna be like. I don't know if I'll have time to make videos. Is it gonna be chaos? I don't know, but I imagine I will not upload for a while."

"So, just wanted to say thank you for all the support in these vlogs. We're so happy you guys have enjoyed them and we can share a bit of our life here, but I think, for now, we might take a little break until we come back again. And yeah, just wanted to let you guys know. Thank you."

There's no set return date so it'll be anyone's guess if and when he does come back.
