Samuel L. Jackson has said Donald Trump represents the same ‘rednecks’ who called him the N-word when he was a child.
The Hollywood legend, 74, has appeared in a bunch of films alongside Brie Larson, 33, including Kong: Skull Island, Unicorn Store, and Captain Marvel.
He recalled that the two Marvel stars ‘bonded’ when Trump won the 2016 Presidential Election.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Jackson said: “We had done Kong together, which was not the most wonderful experience for either of us. We became great friends during that particular experience because we were having such a hard time.

“Then, when she was doing her movie [Unicorn Store] and trying to get a particular actor, I was in the makeup trailer with her and was like, ‘Why are you trying to hire this other actor and not trying to get me to do your movie?’ She said, ‘I didn’t think you’d ever do it… so, will you?’ And I was like, ‘Let’s do it.’"
The Nick Fury actor explained that Trump’s victory left Larson ‘broken’ and said he had to motivate her through the ordeal.
“Then, we bonded through the election while we were doing her movie [Unicorn Store] when Donald Trump won. She was broken, and I was like, 'Don’t let ‘em break you. You have to be strong now'," he said.
The BAFTA Award winner said the former president, who was criminally indicted on 34 felony counts this year, reminds him of the ‘same rednecks’ who called him a racial slur when he was growing up.

"When I see Trump, I see the same rednecks I saw when I was growing up who called me 'n----r' and tried to keep me in my place. That’s what the Republican Party is to me. They’re doing it to young people, gay people. They don’t care who you are. If you’re not them, you’re the enemy," Jackson said.
The Pulp Fiction star also addressed the cruel trolling from ‘incel dudes’ Larson has been subjected to ever since she joined the MCU. Jackson said the mean comments stems from men who ‘hate strong women’.
He said: “When she got Captain Marvel, she called me and was like, ‘They want me in the Marvel Universe. Should I do it?’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah! Let’s do it!’ But she’s not going to let any of that stuff destroy her.

"Everybody wants people to be who they want them to be. She is who she is, and she’s genuinely that."
Jackson has returned to the Marvel universe as Nick Fury in the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion which will be released 21 June.
