Snoop Dogg saves WrestleMania as he defeats former WWE champion

The rapper channeled The Rock at WrestleMania 39

Snoop Dogg has been praised for saving WrestleMania by channelling The Rock and taking down a former WWE champion.

Snoop is always going to be a source of entertainment, but he kicked things up a gear last night (2 April) when he hosted WrestleMania 39.

His epic performance came after Shane McMahon made a surprise return to the ring for the first time since the men's Royal Rumble match in 2022.

McMahon faced The Miz, but things quickly went wrong when he leapfrogged Miz and awkwardly fell to the ground, having suffered what looked like a serious injury.

Cameras quickly cut away from the wrestler as he writhed in pain, but Snoop stepped in to save the day.

Out of nowhere, the rapper jumped into action and delivered a solid punch to knock out The Miz, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

He was clearly loving the moment as he threw his sunglasses off into the audience and bounced off the sides of the ring, making the most of his impromptu match before bringing it to an outstanding finish by embracing his inner Rock and hitting Miz with a People's Elbow for the victory.

Fans couldn't believe it as Snoop pulled out the People's Elbow.

The incredible moment earned Snoop all the praise online, with many viewers branding him the 'WrestleMania MVP'.

"Not only did Snoop carry the match with The Miz and Shane McMahon, but he also improvised the whole thing. Put the belt on snoop #Wrestlemania," one fan wrote.

Another commented: "Snoop Dogg saved Wrestlemania."

Retired wrestler Triple H confirmed in a press conference after the event that McMahon had torn his quad when he faced off against The Mid, saying: "Unfortunately, Shane, tearing his quad early in the match — not that it was going to be a long match, probably — but going down with a torn quad."

He went on to give props to Snoop for his improv, saying: "My hats off to Snoop, just picking it up and just [being like] 'oh man, he's hurt? Alright, I'll fix that.' He's a natural born entertainer.

"I've known Snoop for years in this environment and what kind of a fan he is but man tonight... he put himself in a different playing field for me.

"I know a lot of guys who have been in the business a long time and if that happened they'd be like 'what do we do'. [He] didn't miss a beat. It was amazing."

Snoop hasn't exactly commented on his epic move, though he did share a snap of himself holding the golden WWE belt like the champ that he is.
