NASA captures images of holes in clouds that can be seen from space and it’s left people with questions

A sky filled with a bunch of bizarre clouds in Florida left many people scratching their heads and questioning what exactly they were looking at.

NASA was able to capture images of clouds that looked straight out of a sci-fi film and explain away the phenomenon that many were falsely attributing to aliens.

They do look a little strange, sort of like jellyfish in the sky, if you can believe it.

The space agency was able to capture images of the clouds north of the Florida Keys in late January, using their Terra Satellite.

NASA explained that they were cavum clouds, also known as ‘hole-punch clouds’ and look so bizarre that people have long believed they are signs of flying saucers or other UFOs.

“Seen from below, they can look like a large circle or ellipse has been cut neatly from the clouds, with feathery wisps left in the middle of the hole,” NASA wrote on its website about the phenomenon.

“They are equally impressive when seen from above. This image shows a cluster of cavum over the Gulf of Mexico off of Florida’s west coast on January 30, 2024.

“Otherworldly explanations are not required to explain the eye-catching cloud formation. They are caused by airplanes moving through banks of altocumulus clouds.

Unless you keep up to date with all of NASA’s postings, you may have missed this explanation and could have even looked up at the sky in confusion yourself.

One fisherman on TikTok shared a video of the view of the clouds from below on his page in late January and the clip went viral with over 6 million views.

The uploader, BlacktipH and his friends expressed their confusion at the sight, with many of the social media users in the comments also sounding off their bemusement.

“Never seen this before in my life this was never taught in school so I'm a go with haarp or UFOs,” one user wrote.

“I’ve seen a lot of weird looking clouds in my lifetime, but never anything like those! Looks very freaky,” another added.

“Independence day the movie has finally become a real thing... somebody get Will Smith,” joked another user.

“Ufos shot up through the ocean then straight up through the clouds...yer welcome lol,” piped up a fourth person.

Well, that is all the convincing I need, gotta be UFOs rather than a simple scientific explanation.
