Burger King introduces new 'real cheeseburger' that just has 20 slices of cheese and no meat

Burger King's latest burger has become an internet sensation.

A new Burger King dish has taken the internet by storm and once you see it you’ll totally understand why.

Cheeseburgers have always been a popular fast food choice and as much as some foodies would hate to admit, American cheese is tasty.

However, the latest addition to the fast food chain's menu, which has been dubbed the ‘real cheeseburger’, will probably have you questioning how much cheese is too much.

Introduced in Thailand on Sunday (July 9), the burger does not have any meat, but instead customers are blessed with whopping amount of cheese - 20 slices to be exact, CNN reported.

The burger is exclusive to Thailand.

The 'Super Cheeseburger' costs 109 Thai baht, or $3.13, compared with the usual price of 380 baht ($10.90).

“This is no joke. This is for real,” Burger King declared in a social media post on Sunday shared on Facebook.

CNN also says that cheese is very popular among younger buyers and having cheese on any number of dishes is common in Thailand.

And the cheeseburger quickly went viral on TikTok as customers wasted no time sharing videos of themselves trying the unusual dish.

It’s not unusual, however, for fast food chains to have unique items for different regions. In Thailand for instance, customers can also grab salmon katsu burgers as an alternative to beef.

Meanwhile, over in the States, Burger King is magnifying attention on its signature Whopper, the flame-grilled beef burger. In May, the fast food restaurant marked the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse with a themed menu, featuring a Whopper with a red bun.

And red happens to be quite a significant colour for Burger King, even when the chain hasn’t partnered up with Peter Parker for a Spider-themed burger.

And it’s not just Burger King either, other food brands including McDonald’s, KFC and Pizza Hut all have red and yellow in their logos and branding.

There’s apparently a very simple explanation for that.

TikToker @vincent.ttcoach says the colours have a huge impact on our mind and bodies, grabbing our attention and making us hungry.

He says the colour red increases our heart rates, while yellow really stands out and is seen more easily.

According to Karen Haller, who runs a behavioural design company, big brands use vibrant colours to influence people into engaging with them.

"Looking at the positive psychology qualities of red and yellow in relation to the fast food industry, red triggers stimulation, appetite, hunger, it attracts attention. Yellow triggers the feelings of happiness and friendliness." she wrote on her website.
