Teen shares message to ‘best friend’ after discovering they were an actor hired by family

Lawson had no idea the person he'd spent almost 10 years hanging out with was actually an actor

A TikTok user who stunned viewers with the revelation that his best friend was actually an actor has shared a message to the person who tricked him.

Lawson Spolansky, from New York, went viral earlier this month when he shared his baffling story of finding out that the best friend he'd grown up with wasn't who he thought he was.

In a TikTok video that has since been viewed more than one million times, Spolansky claimed that he first met his friend, Dexter, at the playground when he was just five years old in 2012.

The two went on to form a friendship, and over time their bond helped Spolansky become more comfortable and begin to do better in school, where he'd previously been experiencing 'social and behavioral issues'.

Spolansky told captivated viewers that some cracks started to show in 2018, when he saw a picture of Dexter and his mom hanging out in California with Spolansky's aunt.

Considering Dexter had just offered - and then canceled - a trip to California with Spolansky, the teen was baffled as to why his own aunt would have then gone away with the family.

But upon questioning those involved, Spolansky was given the excuse that it was a 'miscommunication'.

A few years later, Spolansky's boyfriend at the time was working as pool boy at Dexter's mom's house. While working there, the boyfriend realized that his employer wasn't Dexter's mom at all, but his agent.

Horrified, Spolansky allegedly learned that his aunt was best friends with Dexter's real mom, and that his family had paid her to have Dexter befriend him.

As he shared his story online with the caption 'The best friend I never had', Spolansky directly addressed both his aunt and Dexter.

"Dexter, if you're seeing this, what the f**k were you thinking?"

As for his aunt, Spolansky claimed he would never 'be able to forgive' her.

"That's pretty awful," he said. "I don't know who hires somebody to be the best friend, even when you're struggling.

"So, like, I've never really experienced true friendship. So thank you."

Spolansky's aunt has reportedly refuted the claims against her, and while some TikTok viewers have cast doubt over the teen's story, Spolansky has insisted he is telling the truth.

In a comment responding to one viewer, he wrote: "It hurts me that people truly believe I would want to makeup something so horrific. I am trying to be vulnerable here and share some real feelings."

Other viewers have expressed their horror at Spolansky's story, with one writing: "I can't believe they let it go on that long either???"

UNILAD has reached out to Spolansky for comment.
