Woman sparks debate after selling neighbor’s furniture on Facebook Marketplace

TikTok creator Andrea has sparked debate online after selling her neighbor's desk for $20 on Facebook Marketplace

A woman has sparked a heated debate online after selling her neighbor's unwanted furniture on Facebook Marketplace.

If you happen to be having a massive clear out of the home, you might want to be as ruthless as possible, throwing away as many unwanted goods as you can to make way for new items.

Maybe because it can bring a lot of hassle, but many decide not to try and sell their unwanted goods when they could actually make a bit of dollar.

One woman certainly took advantage of that as one of her neighbors kept on giving away good furniture for free.

Taking to TikTok, Andrea, who goes by the name of @avocandreatoast on the popular video platform, revealed how she is bagging extra cash in a very simple way.

In a recently released video, Andrea filmed a bunch of furniture, including a book shelve and a desk labelled with the tag 'free'.

"Someone in my apartment doesn’t know what Facebook Marketplace is," the TikToker explained.

"I keep seeing free stuff lying around; I tugged this bookcase for myself and then today saw a giant desk," as she filmed herself moving the free furniture back to her digs.

"I was just shocked… they weren’t even attempting to sell."

After taking the furniture back home, Andrea decided to put them on Facebook Marketplace, subsequently selling the desk for $20.

"I got a million requests for it, someone came and picked it up within two hours," she added.

"To whoever is leaving your furniture out, please feel free to continue doing so."

The TikTok certainly started a debate in the comments section, as many questioned whether Facebook Marketplace is worth all the hassle.

"I stopped selling stuff on [Facebook] marketplace because it’s such a hassle. 800 ‘is this available?’ messages and then 800 people ghosting. I have a life," one person wrote.

A second added: "I've had no luck with Facebook marketplace. every person so far that's messed about an item they don't show up nor answer back."

While a third remarked: 'It’s because nobody actually shows up half the time and I get annoyed."

The video has sparked debate.

Meanwhile, others pointed out that they actually enjoy giving their unwanted items away for free to people who will use them.

"Sadly I am the person who gives it away. I hate selling things. I would rather give it to someone who will use it," a TikTok user quipped.

While another said: "I donate everything because the people who buy from Facebook marketplace in my area are super flaky and it's not worth it."
