The group of at least six teens can be seen taunting and distracting an older gentleman, whose friend described him as having a learning disability, before beating him.

Just moments after the victim was captured in the footage laughing and smiling, he is violently attacked by those surrounding him. One assailant punches him in the jaw, and moments later another joins in to deliver a dangerous blow to his ear.

The man is visibly shocked and hurt, and he reels away from the unprovoked attack, which occurred on the streets of Philadelphia.

Gerald Andrews Sr., the 48-year-old who shared the video on Facebook, told Philly.com the victim is called Mark and is a co-worker of his at a ShopRite in Cheltenham.

Andrews Sr. added:

He keeps that smile on his face. He wants to talk sports. He’s a good guy. It’s heartbreaking.

Detectives are now investigating the assault. Although all the perpetrators are visible in the video, police do not yet know who they are. They are now hoping members of the public will come forward to help authorities identify them.

Police spokesman Sgt. Eric Gripp said:

Obviously, what is depicted in the video is very disturbing. We would implore anyone who has info on the video, or who knows the identity of the victim to reach out to police.

Hopefully the assailants will be brought to justice and Mark makes a full recovery.
