A 23-year-old single mother was found dead after she was told she would have to give evidence against the two women who framed her.

Jayne Pearce, from Oldham, spent three months in prison for the crime of smothering her own baby, which was not true but had been fabricated by two of her ‘friends’.

Leonie Hampson-Ogden, 23, and Shauna Stanway, 21, have been sentenced to 10 months each in prison for perverting the course of justice after they lied about Miss Pearce’s treatment of her four-year-old son.

Having to re-live the events leading to her false imprisonment was proving to be traumatic for Miss Pearce, and she was found dead just two days before she was set to appear in the witness box.

She posted on Facebook saying:

Just when I think everything is all over with, it all gets dragged back up. Oh well, justice has to be done. At least that puts my name in the clear and people can stop with their lies.

Tragically, it turned out that the two women pleaded guilty to their charges, Jayne never would have had to take the stand, the Manchester Evening News reports.

Jayne, a warehouse worker, had taken a toxic combination of vodka, cocaine and the anti-depressant drug fluoxetine, an inquest into her death revealed.

The inquest also revealed that Miss Pearce was heavily affected by her ordeal in jail and was working with counselors to ‘block out the memories’.

Hampson-Ogden and Stanway had hacked into Miss Pearce’s Facebook and planted a fake confession in January 2015, leading to her arrest and later release when police go a call admitting the allegations were false.

She posted this photo to Facebook captioned ‘The truth will always come out’…

Pearce’s parents are happy with the 10 months, saying in a statement released after sentencing:

We are happy with the sentence and that they will have to serve as a minimum of what Jayne had to serve. They will see what the consequences of their lies led to and what Jayne had to go through.
