Shocking footage has been released of a woman getting knocked out by a man in the street, moments later being robbed and having members of the public take pictures of her.

Footage taken from a surveillance camera in Pittsburgh, PA, shows an unprovoked attack on an unidentified woman where a male assailant kicks her legs out from under and then punches her in the face knocking her out cold.

Afterwards, as the woman is lying unconscious on the sidewalk, bystanders appear to take pictures and selfies with her, at one point one of the onlookers appears to reach down and take her phone.

The woman’s mother, who also did not want to be identified told her local CBS news station, KDKA:

They don’t treat animals like that. They wouldn’t treat a dog that way… It’s disgusting. My daughter needs help.

The disturbing incident took place a month prior to the footage going public, in the Beechview neighbourhood of Pittsburgh. KDKA were able to find the victim, thanks to her mother who contacted the news station, who discovered she has been arrested multiple times for drug offences and is a known addict.

When the reporter approached the assault victim for an interview she appeared abrasive and reluctant to speak on camera – the KVKA reporter suspected she was on drugs.

Speaking to the New York Post, Dr. Capretto, a local physician at the Gateway Rehab centre said:

She’s lying there like somebody just hit a deer.

It’s like a sideshow in a circus.

This is a human being.

Since the footage went public, Dr. Capretto has agreed to treat the victim for her apparent drug addiction.

Dr. Capretto said:

They deserve to be helped.

This is my oath to help people who are sick.

She’s sick and she needs help

Local police told the local news station:

Nobody called 911 to help her.

They took what looks like her phone while she’s out cold.

Shortly after taking photos of the unconscious woman, the bystanders return and begin taking more photos of her. One source describes how a ‘kid lays beside her and takes a selfie’.

While it’s unclear what originally transpired between the victim and assailant, causing her to be viciously assaulted, it truly boggles the mind how so many people can stand there and just take pictures of someone who is in dire need of assistance.

It doesn’t matter if she was on drugs or not, you’ve just witnessed an assault and the first thing to do is pull out your phones to take pictures?

And folks wonder why humanity is going down the toilet.
