A former Canadian hockey player turned fitness guru has been tipped to be one of the next million dollar models.
Global talent scouts have announced the top ten model ‘hotlist’ to be included on the International Fashion Show’s Next Big Things 2018.
The models (five male and five female) were identified from Instagram – after a global search – and have been predicted to be sought after for brand endorsements and international bookings.
Each of the 10 ‘Next Big Things’ have been identified using months of in-depth social media analysis, which industry experts could use to compare candidates from around the world.
Ranked as the ultimate ‘number one male model’ is 25-year-old Canadian ex-ice hockey professional, Wes Myron.
Meanwhile, judges unanimously picked 25-year-od Brylee Williamson (above), an American Admin Assistant, living in Japan.
As part of the scrutiny process, each of the models were assessed for their unique fashion, look, attitude and lifestyle and was initially ‘spotted’ due to the sharing of specific hashtags covering the words #fashion #model and #catwalk.
International Fashion Show embarked on the complex process to identify 10 new faces, as part of their launch of a series of high profile runway shows.
These will be taking place around the world, but will kickstart with a London event on Friday March 30.
Head Judge, award-winning fashion TV presenter and columnist, Naomi Isted, says the initial search has been an intense and intriguing experience for the panel.
Scouring Instagram for our top 10 was a fascinating process and really emphasised that 2018 is they year we finally have a ‘look’ for all types of fashion and audiences.
In my view, there’s been a massive shift in fashion since the rise of social media and it was appropriate that we would embrace that medium to identify the stand-out individuals who would really reflect the international nature of the event.
The rise of Instagram and of the Fashion Blogger, has now made for a constant source of influential and engaging content – straight to the consumer.
Brands are increasingly booking influencers over conventional models, due to their often enviable global reach.
What The Next Big Thing hotlist represents is an intriguing blend of the two worlds – models chosen for their bold fashion look, but with the potential to become a major Instagram sensation.
The shortlisted models are now on the show’s Instagram profile and all of the top ten hotlist are expected to sign to major modelling agencies within the next few days.
Our judging panel included highly experienced model scouts, stylists, A-listers and senior industry figures, including agents and brand directors.
As we all know, the top models working today make millions, live international glamorous lives and the earning power for these ten models has the potential to be life-changing.
Last year, Kendall Jenner earned $22m and the top 10 models combined earned $109.5m, so the opportunities ahead of these Next Big Things are limitless, and there’s no reason why one or more won’t be the next international million dollar model.
It’s exciting to be working with them now before it goes crazy for them!
Avanish Anand, of International Fashion Show, said:
My directors and I are thrilled with the selection which Naomi and the panel identified via Instagram.
We really wanted to ensure our series of shows around the world would be truly reflective of the global models out there and this was a great way for us to carry out the search.
