No one can refuse the power of a PowerPoint presentation, complete with epic slide transitions and an emotive plea. The clue is in the name.
Haley Tabarangao, 22, from Colorado, is a women who knows that power well after she managed to convince her boyfriend to adopt a dog called Gary in a succinct yet successful three slide display of innovation, taking him on a technologically-inspired guilt trip.

Haley and her partner, Colton Scheer, 21, are already mum and dad to a 3-month-old Newfoundland called Yams.
But when Haley fell in love with an 8-year-old ownerless mutt, she pulled out all the stops to adopt him.
Haley laughed as she told UNILAD:
I would always give pretend presentations when I found a dog I liked before we got Yams, but Gary is different and I felt like I had to really make a point to my boyfriend.
So, I just made this PowerPoint really quick on my phone and sent it to him at work.
Fast-forward to today, and Colton and Haley have just travelled to the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley to meet Gary.
Haley said she had ‘no idea’ why no other human had fallen in love with Gary, adding:
The shelter speaks very highly of him, I just think most people want a younger dog.
His face in the picture they have really reminded me of my old dog, Bohdie, who passed almost two years ago. He’s very happy looking and I just knew I had to save him!
They also introduced Yams to his new big brother, and the pair got on like a house on fire.
We’ll fill out an application but I believe that takes a week or two and they have to do a home check. I feel such a strong attraction to him, I know it’ll work out! I’m so excited!
Haley said she is ‘100 per cent’ behind the adopt don’t shop movement, adding:
My Newfie is from a breeder (for service dog prospect reasons) but I will be adopting from here on out!
I adopted my cat from a bad situation 10 years ago and she’s the best! Shelter animals always have so much love to give, it’s amazing.
Haley and Colton are two of thousands who are supporting the ‘Adopt Don’t Shop’ movement.
The catchphrase has been adopted by many animal-lovers to champion adopting animals without humans over dogs from bred for sale online or in pet stores.
The movement is attempting, in part, to combat the proliferation of so-called puppy mills, which The Humane Society defines as ‘factory-style breeding facilities that put profit above the welfare of the dogs’.
Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and too few people consider adoption when looking for a pet.

There are many reasons dogs like Gary might end up without a home; through trauma, or whether their owners are no longer able to look after a pet, no dog deserves to go without the love and care of a human.
