The three Spider-Men finally did the meme, and Andrew Garfield has revealed the hilarious reason it took so long.
Spider-Man: Far From Home teased the multiverse with Mysterio's supposed origins, but it wasn't until the addition of veteran villains like Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin that we truly started to believe.
Last December, No Way Home released to rave reviews, screaming crowds and some of the biggest box office returns in cinema history, primarily as a result of the hype surrounding Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland appearing on-screen together.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live ahead of this year's Oscars, for which he's been nominated for Best Actor for Tick, Tick... Boom!, Garfield detailed what it was like to recreate the Spider-Man pointing meme with his co-stars.

"Me and Tobey landed on set. They put us in the costumes, and they said, ‘We’re gonna do the meme really quickly…’ That was before we had shot anything. We were all kind of like thrown onto a set and told to point at each other," he recalled.
"I think we got one good shot, because the rest of the time we were just laughing and trying not to stare at each other’s crotches and just comparing bulges."
There are a couple of scenes in the movie where the trio point at each other in the spirit of the meme, but this photo was a straight-up recreation to announce the movie's digital release date. Naturally, it was shared hundreds of thousands of times across social media.

Earlier speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Garfield said there was never any doubt about doing the meme. "Oh, no, it was always gonna happen," he said.
"I think everyone was like, 'How do we do the meme? How do we do the meme?' So before we shot anything, we just did a photoshoot of the three of us pointing at each other.
"I knew they must've got one good shot, because we were all just cracking up so much. We couldn't quite contain ourselves."
There's been much speculation about what the future holds for Garfield's Spidey. If rumours are to be believed, Maguire will appear once more in the Doctor Strange sequel, but fans have expressed desire for a third, final entry in The Amazing Spider-Man series.

"In terms of moving forward with the character, yes I am definitely open to that," he said earlier this year.
"Again it would have to be something very unique, very special and serving to an audience and in service of the character.
"There’s something playful and unique and odd and unexpected to be done. I’m not sure what is but if we can figure it out it would be so much fun."
