Bella Thorne Opens Up On Motivation Behind Working With Sex Industry
Bella Thorne has opened up about the motivation behind her adult film Her & Him, while also discussing why she’s ‘tired of being slut-shamed’.
Writer Marlow Stern mentioned her ‘sex positive attitude’ when making the film before highlighting the stigma people working in the adult industry face.
Thorne replied: “Thank you so much for noticing. I really do try, and I agree that the stigma is not right, and I hate the stigma around it. I have a lot of friends in the sex-work industry and when I see them go through pain, it’s heartbreaking. These are my friends.
“So, as much as I can be a voice, I’m always trying. And it’s another thing where people are like, ‘Bella Thorne is controversial because she did this.’ OK, well now there are all these celebrities hopping on the sex-positivity train – making vibrators and owning sex-toy brands. Now people are finally talking about it, but when I do it it’s, ‘Why is Bella Thorne doing this?’”
The 24-year-old star went on to say that she’s ‘happy’ about the fact things are starting to change, before describing why she chose to work within the sex industry.
“My goal has always been to help destigmatize it,” she explained. “Even the idea of sex in general is so important, and it’s always been frowned upon.
“Women have been so uncomfortable due to the stigma that’s been put on them when it comes to sex that we don’t want to touch our own bodies or are scared to buy a vibrator because people will think we’re a ‘slut’ or ‘dirty.’ These things aren’t right, and I’m so happy to see them changing.”
Thorne rose to fame when she was cast on the Disney Channel show Shake It Up at the age of 14 following years of modelling throughout her childhood.
Over the years she has appeared in films such as Blended and Midnight Sun, as well as working as a singer, songwriter and director. After years of having to fit into the role that began with her Disney career, she believes she’s now at a phase in her life where she has control.
In 2020, the actor opened her OnlyFans account and earned $1 million on her first day on the site before revealing she joined it for research.
