Ben Affleck outs Matt Damon and says he’s ‘never paid a bill to this day’

Ben Affleck claims that his BFF Matt Damon has 'never paid a bill to this day'.

A true friendship is one where you can be rather honest to each other and pick out each other's faults.

To someone you have just met, you are probably not going to say how they can improve, as it will likely come across as rude.

But for someone you have known for a long time, there is a higher chance you can get away with it.

Two men who have certainly been buddies for a while are Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, with the pair living together as room mates back in the early years of their showbiz careers.

And the saying you don't know someone until you live with them certainly came into play here, as Affleck revealed what Damon was like as a flatmate, and how he apparently did not contribute much to the household bills.

Ben Affleck spoke about his best pal Matt Damon recently.

Speaking on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Thursday (13 April), Affleck said: "Matt’s never paid a bill to this day, that I know of.

"We’re like, ‘Why are the lights not working?’, and that’s because the utility company needs money to continue to fund our electricity."

Corden then asked Affleck if Damon was a good roommate, and it is fair to say the actor did not shy away from what he really thought about his experience living with his colleague.

"Matt’s a beautiful guy. I love him. He’s my best friend. He’s been great to me my whole life. He’s a brilliant guy. I would not suggest living with him," Affleck said.

Affleck expanded on that, saying that Damon has the tendency to 'block things out' including “the idea that when you finish with something, it has to be washed or thrown away.”

According to Affleck, he and his brother even went on 'strike' and did not clean their apartment for two weeks after 'cleaning up after the guy for years'.

While Affleck jokingly claimed that Damon doesn't exactly contribute to the bills, the latter recently revealed how they shared a joint back account together before they got big in Hollywood.

As teens, the acting pair had a joint bank account.

That account – according to Damon – was how they paid to live, both topping it up whenever they got a gig.

Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Damon explained: “It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions.

“[It was] a weird thing in retrospect.”

Meanwhile, Affleck added: “We were going to help each other and be there for each other.

“It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together'."
