Bruce Willis Gets His Own Razzie Category In His Honour

The category comes after Willis starred in eight films last year.

Die Hard actor Bruce Willis has been honoured with a category all for himself at the upcoming Golden Raspberry Awards, aka the Razzies, after starring in eight different films last year.

Whether you know him for the eerie 90s classic The Sixth Sense, the beloved Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction, or even simply as Elizabeth's dad in Friends, chances are you know Bruce Willis.

What you might not know, however, is that the popular Hollywood actor also appears to have an affinity for more low-budget films - so much so that he appeared in more than half a dozen of them last year alone.

While much of the world was still holed up inside trying to avoid the COVID-19 outbreak, Willis was busy taking on American Siege, Apex, Cosmic Sin, Deadlock, Fortress, Midnight in the Switchgrass, Out of Death and Survive the Game.

If you've not heard of any of the above films, that might be because they were never released in theatres and instead went straight to streaming. However, they're being given the recognition they deserve - sort of - at the Razzies, an awards ceremony which encourages stars to 'own their bad'.

The site for the awards describes it as an 'ugly cousin to the Oscars', with winners chosen by 1,128 Voting Razzie Members 'from 49 US States and over two dozen foreign countries' in categories including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Actress and Worst Screen Couple.

Of course, after witnessing Willis release film after film last year, the organisers of the Razzies evidently didn't feel like nominating him for one of the existing categories was enough. Instead, they decided to create a new, 'special' category titled 'Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie'.

The nominations include every single one of the aforementioned 2021 films, which themselves received varying reviews following their release. One review for American Siege, for example, reads: 'As ever, Willis could double as a piece of expensive lawn furniture, a wooden and immobile showpiece designed to up the curb value but not actually do anything substantial.' Ouch.

It seems pretty clear that Willis will succeed in taking home a Razzie at the upcoming event, though whether he'll appreciate the fact he had an entire section dedicated to himself is a different question. Notably, however, the Razzies do stress that 'only the best own their bad'.

The 'winners' of this years Razzies are set to be revealed on March 26.
