Marvel fans will soon have a super reason to head to Disneyland as the company have unveiled the first look at the new Avengers Campus.

The Walt Disney Company’s D23 Expo is taking place in California over the next few days and while a number of big announcements are expected this is one which will certainly make Avengers fans’ ears prick up.

Avengers Campus is located within the Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort, where the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT!’ attraction opened in 2017.

The site will transport visitors into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the help of rides, attractions, shops, and restaurants.

According to Comicbook, Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, spoke of the upcoming addition to the park, saying:

We’re building an immersive super hero-themed land at Disney California Adventure to enable our guests to join the Avengers to save the world.

Avengers Campus will soon be home to a Spider-Man attraction, known as the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, or WEB headquarters.

Other than the Spider-Man attraction it’s not yet clear exactly what rides will be included, though according to Slash Film there will be a microbrewery themed around Ant-Man.

Disney are planning to connect the Marvel experiences at Disney California Adventure, Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland through numerous Avengers headquarters.

Disney Parks say guests who visit these campuses will become part of an ‘interconnected, global story spanning from California to Paris to Hong Kong, as the Avengers recruit new extraordinary people to join them.’

An attraction synopsis reads:

The Avengers are setting up new Headquarters and training facilities around the globe to inspire all potential recruits willing to step up and become something more.

As part of this global initiative, Tony Stark has founded the Worldwide Engineering Brigade — or WEB for short — to develop advancements in super-powered technology, including new enhancements to Spider-Man’s suit as their debut project.

By bringing together the world’s brightest young inventors, the WEB is creating new interfaces that will empower all of us to join the ranks of Earth’s Mightiest.

Concept art on display at D23 reveals a parked Quinjet, a S.H.I.E.L.D. jet frequently used by the Avengers, and suggests Hawkeye will be added as a meet and greet character.

Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Black Panther and the Dora Milaje, and members of the Guardians of the Galaxy have all already been recruited for meeting fans at the park.

Avengers Campus is set to open in summer 2020, so plan your vacation accordingly!
