Duffer Brothers Say Finn Wolfhard Has Figured Out Exactly What Their Stranger Things Spinoff Will Be Like

The Stranger Things star surprised the creators by correctly guessing their idea

Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard appears to have got to know creators the Duffer Brothers a little too well over the past few years, as he managed to correctly guess the subject of their spinoff show.

Wolfhard, who plays Mike in the hit Netflix series, was just 13 years old when he starred in the first series of Stranger Things in 2016 and began to work with Matt and Ross Duffer.

Six years on, Wolfhard is now edging ever-closer to his 20s and has become well versed in the world of TV and film, having starred in projects such as IT and Ghostbusters: Afterlife as well as all four series of Stranger Things.

He no doubt knows the Stranger Things story inside and out, so when its success made the idea of a spinoff show a very real possibility, Wolfhard managed to guess exactly what the creators had in mind.

When discussing potential future projects in an interview with Variety, Ross recalled the moment Wolfhard made his guess and said: "He wasn't spitballing, he just went, 'I think this would be a cool spin-off'. "And we were like, 'How in the world…'."

Unfortunately the Duffer brothers didn't elaborate on exactly what the spinoff might entail, but if Wolfhard can guess it, maybe fans can too?

Maybe we'll learn some backstories for the children who grew up with Eleven in 'Papa's' lab and the families they were apparently taken from? Or perhaps we'll take a deep-dive into the iconic life of pizza delivery guy Argyle?

Whatever it is, at least Wolfhard's speculation indicates the star is approving of whatever the Duffer Brothers have planned. Taking into account his correct guess and his work on the show, the creators noted Wolfhard could be a 'really talented director' in the future.

Before we start thinking about a spin-off, though, we have to get to the end of series four, which is set to conclude with an epic finale episode on 1 July.

The last episode of the series is set to last a whopping two-and-a-half hours, though the brothers said it was impossible to cut anything from the show.

"Reel one is build-up dread. Reel two is action, chaos," Ross explained, adding: "And then, reel three is our traditional coda, come down after all of that. You didn’t really want to break it after just the build-up. It wouldn’t feel like a satisfying episode. So, at a certain point we just said, ‘Well, it’s just a mega episode.’ If someone wants to pause it, they can!”

I have a feeling fans will be too captivated to want to pause the dramatic final episode, but we'll know for sure with its release in just a few days.
