Everyone Is P*ssed Off By Ending To New Netflix Film ‘How It Ends’
There’s just no pleasing some people is there? You deliver something to the masses, which is a labour of love, an effort of blood sweat and tears, yet people still find things to pick at.
We call those people film and TV critics and in 2018, it seems everyone is one these days. Granted, there are legitimate critics out there – some of them work for UNILAD, but then there’re the rest who just aren’t happy with anything.
The latest film to catch the ire is the Netflix Original, How It Ends, but it’s not the quality of the film which has people fuming. Instead, their gripe is with the film’s ending.
I’ll hold my hands up and say I haven’t watched How It Ends as I was severely burned by the last Netflix film I watched, Bright, so my general rule of thumb is to avoid them when possible.
It looks like the tradition of badly made Netflix films continues with How It Ends. And how does it ‘end’? Badly according to many people who have taken to Twitter to warn other potential viewers.
The film, which premiered on July 13 on Netflix, stars Forest Whitaker, Theo James and Kat Graham. It follows the story of a man (James) and his estranged father-in-law (Whitaker) caught up in a nation-wide apocalypse as they desperately try to reach his pregnant wife.
A simple premise for a story right? You’d expect some form of resolution from a one hour and 53-minute story. Wrong!
So this is where we divulge into spoiler territory. If you are planning to watch the movie and don’t want the end ruined for you, I suggest you turn back now. Because there’s no going back after this.
So James’ character ends up reuniting with his pregnant wife (played by Graham), fairly straightforward right?
They’re in their car driving and all of a sudden, the end of the world is about to happen, viewers are finally going to see how the world ends… but they don’t.
As the apocalypse is about to engulf their car and we reach the film’s ultimate crescendo… BAM! Here come the end credits.
You’ve just sat through an hour plus of action and drama, for an ending which is the equivalent of a fart in a packed elevator.
Understandably, people were not happy and they took to Twitter to vent their frustration.
One tweeter wrote:
Just wasted two hours of my life on “How It Ends” on @netflix! WTF was that? [sic]
While another person posted:
That movie How It Ends on Netflix doesn’t even f*ckin tell you how it f*ckin ends. It’s a 2 hour tease with no payoff and you’re a lesser person after having watched it. [sic]
Sports writer for the Telegraph, Adam Hurrey, wrote:
You may be considering watching “How It Ends” on Netflix. Do not watch “How it Ends” on Netflix.
One person advised her followers to avoid How It Ends at all costs, warning them:
For the love of God do not waste 2 hours watching How It Ends on Netflix you could literally do anything else in that time
