Ewan McGregor Says Homoerotic Fan Art Is An ‘Eye Opener’

The actor has revealed he gets sent a 'lot' of fan art

Obi-Wan Kenobi star Ewan McGregor has revealed he’s sent homoerotic fan art thanks to his role in the popular sci-fi franchise.

McGregor first played the Jedi Master all the way back in 1999’s Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace and recently reprised the role for the Disney+ spin-off series Obi-Wan Kenobi

The series also saw the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

In an interview with GQ, McGregor revealed that some fans are so happy to see the two actors back in their Star Wars roles, that they feel compelled to send in NSFW fan art.

He said: “There’s a lot of homoerotic Obi-Wan/Hayden fan art that gets sent to me now and again… It’s always a bit of an eye-opener.

“You open the envelope, you think you’re going to have to sign something, and you’re like, ‘F**king hell!’”

Yeah, that seems like a fair response, mate.

McGregor went on to say that in the past he was ‘constantly’ asked if he would play Obi-Wan Kenobi again in the future.

He said: "I did a bit of social media then – I don’t anymore – but I would see it constantly, this question, are you going to do it again? Are you going to do it again?”

Of course, he's now back as the Jedi Master, much to the delight of fans - and fans were even more chuffed when it was announced that Christensen would also be making a return.

During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, McGregor said that ‘hundreds’ of crew members turned up on set the first day Christensen got into costume as Darth Vader.

He said: “I was like, ‘Why are there so many people here today?’

We finally got a glimpse of Darth Vader in episode three.

“Hayden walks out in the suit, and I was like, ‘Oh, of course, that’s why everyone is here. Everyone is here to see this moment.’

“I’ve never quite seen a crew react the way they reacted when [Hayden] came on set for the first time as Vader.

“I mean, it was like one of the greatest moments on any film set that I have ever seen.”

Christensen chipped in: “What was cool about working on this was so many of the crew members were, like, proper Star Wars fans.

"That’s sort of the fun of working on a Star Wars project, everybody’s really excited to be there.

“I’m sure when they saw Ewan for the first time, they had the same response. But, yeah, that was a big moment for me.”

The first five episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are now streaming on Disney+.
