Fans Are Pointing Out Major Inconsistency In Thor: Love And Thunder Trailer

While some fans were frustrated not to get their first look at Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, others were busy examining Thor

Fans have spotted a fairly huge inconsistency with Thor in the trailer for Love and Thunder, which landed earlier this week.

While some fans were frustrated not to get their first look at Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, others were busy examining Chris Hemsworth, who stars as our titular hero, having realised something was slightly different about his appearance.

Cast your minds back to the last time we saw him smashing his hammer about in Avengers: Endgame, when Thor was sporting a fake eye after losing his right eye fighting his evil sister Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. Rocket Raccoon had given him a brown false eye in Avengers: Infinity War, and the God of Thunder clearly enjoyed the two-tone vibe so much that he carried it over to Endgame.

However, a few close-ups of Hemsworth's face in the new trailer show that his fake eye is now... blue?

The detail didn’t go unnoticed by eagle-eyed fans, with one tweeting: “Why does Thor have his blue eyes in the new trailer? The artificial eye was a different color.”

In the replies, some people attempted to have a stab at why this might be, with one joking: “His artificial eye just received a software update that’s why.”

Offering a slightly less exciting reason, another wrote: “Maybe he finally got an eye made to match his original? Something this easy to explain isn’t game breaking.”

A third said: “You are totally right, they need to spend a good few minutes of this film explaining how Thor picked up a new fake eye sometime over the past few years while traveling space.”

Someone else put forward a much simpler – but perhaps more probable – suggestion, saying it could well be down to some of the finer details of the film’s computer-generated imagery not being ready yet.

They said: “Because they aren't done with the CGI yet. You can tell in some scenes look like PS4, lol. I'm sure they'll fix it OR explain it.”

The fan added: “He does have advanced healing of sorts, maybe by now it has grown back? Maybe the power he unlocked […] allowed this overtime.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is due to be released this summer, with Thor set to take on Gorr the God Butcher – not that he appeared in the trailer, much to some people’s disappointment

Marvel

A synopsis says: "The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

“To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor's surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance and stop him before it's too late."

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in cinemas on 8 July.
