Fans Think They've Found 'Proof' That Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool Will Appear In Doctor Strange 2

The Merc with a Mouth hasn't been seen since the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2.

Film fans are convinced that Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool will make an appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after Marvel released a promotional poster for the film.

We last saw Deadpool in the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2, where the mercenary proved himself to be just as foul-mouthed as ever, and still just as desperate to be part of the X-Men.

His dreams haven't come true just yet, but Marvel fans believe the character could find himself wrapped up in the world of superheroes during a return in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

Speculation about Reynolds' involvement in the film began with the release of the Doctor Strange poster, which shows the main character casting a spell while surrounded by shards of glass from the symbol of the Sanctum Santorum.

The faces of supporting characters can be seen reflected in the shattered pieces, including Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Elizabeth Olsen, but it's one shard in particular that has caught the attention of some very eagle-eyed fans.

Whether you've been to Specsavers or not, prepare to do some squinting.

The shard in question is located towards the top left hand side of the photo and features a reddish tinge across its surface. It's definitely easy to miss, but in a bid to find out as many details as possible some users have scrutinised each piece and concluded that this reddish tinge is, in fact, Deadpool.

Twitter users have attempted to draw around features in the glass to emphasise their beliefs, and though it could be dismissed by some as nothing more than a shadow, the discovery has been enough to convince a lot of fans that Deadpool will be making an appearance.

Check out some of the reactions below:

Deadpool has not yet made a debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's certainly possible that Doctor Strange 2 will be the character's gateway into the world.

The appearance of the X-Men, or at least of their founder, has already been teased in the trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, in which the voice of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X is seemingly heard saying: 'We should tell him the truth.'

Notably, the upcoming sequel also marks the return of Wanda Maximoff, or the Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. Her appearance will be the character's first since the Disney+ series WandaVision, which featured X-Men’s version of her brother, Pietro, played by Evan Peters.

Given Marvel's love of surprises it's unlikely Deadpool's involvement will be confirmed or denied any time soon, so we'll just have to wait and see whether the multiverse will bring all the characters together.
