Peter Parker isn’t the only one with an alter ego as actor Hannibal Buress sent a random guy to attend the Hollywood premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming in his place.
Actor and comedian Buress plays Coach Wilson in the upcoming superhero flick and so was naturally required to attend the film’s big premiere in LA yesterday.
However, he was busy but wanted to look good by making an appearance and so he of course took to social media to solve his problem.
In tweets, which have since been deleted, he called for:
LA. I need a lookalike with solid comedic timing for an event tonight.
Pays $500. Email pics to [email protected]
And yes, hanniballookalike1 and hanniballookalike2 were taken and I think it’s weird.
Despite looking nothing like Hannibal, LA local Joe Carroll stepped up to the plate.
Rocking up to the premiere in style, Caroll made sure to post photos of his disguise and VIP journey on Instagram.
In an accompanying caption he said:
When Hannibal Buress hits you up and tells you to crash the red carpet since he couldn’t make it…. You crash the damn red carpet.
In the YouTube live-stream of the premiere, you can see Caroll walking the carpet as Buress and even being interviewed talking about ‘his role’ without a single eyebrow being raised.
The real Hannibal found this all too funny and so tweeted a screen grab of the hilarious moment where it is pretty clear the man being interviewed is not the famous comedian.
I’m out here at the @SpiderManMovie premiere. In theatres July 8th.
