People say they're never having an MRI scan after watching terrifying clip from new Insidious movie

First things first, I want to say that MRI scans can potentially be life-saving, and you shouldn't put off having one if it's recommended.

But with that being said, I have to admit that the new Insidious movie definitely doesn't make them look like fun.

Insidious: The Red Door is set to be released on 7 July, when horror fans will once again catch up with the Lambert family, who featured in the first two instalments of the franchise in 2011 and 2013.

Ten years on, it's now time for son Dalton to begin college, but unfortunately his experience isn't just about making new friends and venturing out on his own.

In true Insidious fashion, it's much more scary than that.

Not only is Dalton suddenly hit by the return of repressed demons from his past, but his father, Josh, is also targeted by the terrifying beasts, one of who decides to pay him a visit during a trip to the hospital.

The clip, shared by Sony this week to tease the new film, sees Patrick Wilson back as Josh as he climbs into an MRI machine, explaining that his brain has been 'foggy' for the last few years.

Everything starts out as normal as Josh climbs on to the little bed and is moved into the machine, but the lights suddenly go out while he's trapped in the coffin-like enclosure.

He calls out to the room, but it's not the doctor who responds to him. Or if it is, it's definitely not a doctor I ever want to meet.

The horrifying demon jump scare not only suitably terrified viewers, but has also made people reluctant ever to have an MRI scan again in their lives.

"Good Lord, I'm never going to be able to have an MRI scan ever again," one horrified Twitter user wrote, while another added: "This is what I'll be thinking about when I go for my MRI scan."

Again, just for the hope of keeping us all in good health, I want to make clear that it's very, very unlikely this scenario would happen to you if you go for an MRI scan.

And if it does, well... the hospital is probably the best place to be?

Thankfully, as well as scaring the life out of some people, the clip did also manage to hype fans up for the release of the movie.
