Jimmy Neutron Actor Teases Comeback Of Iconic Franchise

Nickelodeon's Boy Genius hasn't been seen for more than 15 years - but the voice actor behind his dad wants to see a comeback.

Gotta blast! Jimmy Neutron could return to our screens, according to one of the original show's actors.

Sporting an ice-gemmed, gravity-defying hairstyle and a stonking IQ of 210, Nickelodeon's beloved boy genius blessed our lives between 2002 and 2006, going on all sorts of daft adventures with his pals Carl Wheezer and Sheen Estevez in Retroville, as well as his trusty robot dog Goddard.

Before becoming a staple of children's daytime TV, the character made his debut in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, a fully-fledged cinematic adventure across the galaxy; battling evil, rescuing his parents and saving the world (it also romanticised peeing in the shower to Kids in America - if you know, you know). Also, yes, the movie actually came before the series, so there's your Mandela effect moment for the day.

Despite 2010's Planet Sheen spin-off, Jimmy Neutron hasn't been seen for more than 15 years. However, one of the original voice actors has teased a possible comeback: Mark DeCarlo, who played Hugh Neutron, Jimmy's dad.

'Serious question guys, do you want to see Jimmy Neutron come back?? Well it's not an impossible task because of the fact so many of you love it so much! All it takes is enough of you individually writing letters to @Nickelodeon to bring it back!' he tweeted.

'You can find the studio's address online and with the price of a stamp, I know if enough of you guys chip in, there'll be a good chance! I promise nothing, confirm nothing, etc. But I know one thing for sure and its that you guys truly love this show and care about it coming back and we hope so too.

'It's incredible to see this entire generation of internet creators having been inspired by our little part in animation and it's become an important part in so many lives and I'd love to see that generation get to sit down with their kids to enjoy what made their days so special.'

Debi Derryberry, who voiced the titular character, recently marked the movie's 20th anniversary in December by giving away an original signed ticket to the premiere. However, while she's made similar teases over the years regarding a comeback, Jimmy Neutron's return remains unconfirmed.

Rob Paulsen, who voiced Carl, also said, 'I don't think it would be a bad thing at all to reboot Jimmy Neutron. I think that's one of those shows that a lot of people would love to see again. It was very good. Really smart. That wouldn't surprise me.'
