A week ahead of its hotly anticipated release, reviews are streaming in for John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, and it sounds like we’re in for an absolute belter of an action movie.

At the time of writing, John Wick 3 has earned a super fresh 98 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, from a total of 40 critics’ reviews.

You can watch the trailer for this upcoming Wick adventure below:

This near-perfect score is reflected in the glowing reviews from critics, with Chris Evangelista from Slash Film hailing it as an ‘action masterpiece’ and ‘the best Wick’ yet’.

John DeForce, from The Hollywood Reporter, heaped it with similar praise:

An epic of choreographed mayhem that expands the Wickiverse in mostly pleasing ways, it is destined to satisfy fans of this surprise-hit franchise: If its ludicrous aspects bug you, what the hell are you doing here?

Meanwhile, Chris Nashawaty from Entertainment Weekly gave this third installment a very worthy A-, stating:

I don’t mean to give the impression that John Wick 3 is anything grander than a gorgeously choreographed, gratuitously violent action movie. But as gorgeously choreographed, gratuitously violent action movies go, it’s high art.

The overall critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes describes John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum as being ‘another hard-hitting round of the brilliantly choreographed, over-the-top action that fans of the franchise demand’.

Directed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum stars Keanu Reeves as the dog loving titular character. The main cast also includes Halle Berry, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne and Mark Dacascos.

The IMDb synopsis is as follows:

Super-assassin John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin’s guild, and with a $14 million price tag on his head – he is the target of hit men and women everywhere.

Both John Wick (2014) and John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) were well received by critics and audiences alike, enjoying 87 per cent and 89 per cent respectively on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing. Could it be that John Wick’s story actually improves with each new chapter?

The eagerly awaiting audience has of course yet to give their verdict on this latest film. However, it would appear we have every reason to expect a thrilling and well-made third installment from what has fast become one of the greatest action franchises of modern times.

You can catch John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum in cinemas from May 17.
