Keanu Reeves is one of the most famous actors in the world – but even he’s asked someone for an autograph.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Matrix Resurrections star was put through the wringer of The Colbert Questionert, a series of 15 questions which will make any guest ‘known’ on a deeper level, compared to other interviews.

For example, he was asked whether he prefers apples or oranges (he said apples) and what his favourite sandwich is; after clarifying whether he was answering on an objective level or his own experience, he opted for a toasted sandwich with crunchy peanut butter and honey.

Colbert also asked Reeves for something he owns that he should really throw out, which appeared to make Reeves rather stressed. ‘It’s so difficult for me to throw things away, I’m a little bit of a pack rat… I don’t wanna throw anything away,’ he said, before surrendering without an answer.

Later, the host asked whether Reeves had ever asked someone for an autograph. ‘Yes,’ he quickly answered. ‘May I ask whom?’ Colbert asked. ‘Lou Reed… but it wasn’t for me, it was for a friend, and he was cool about it,’ Reeves revealed.

‘It was a little piece of paper with blue ink… yeah, it was good. It just said Lou Reed,’ Reeves laughed. Before moving onto the next question, he also remembered asking another celebrity for an autograph: George Carlin. ‘He gave me an autograph… it was really funny, because [he] wrote, ‘Dear Keanu, f*ck you’,’ he revealed.

‘I always thought that he wrote that just for me, then I met someone else who said he wrote the same thing to them. Anyway, beautiful.’

As well as asking for Reeves’ favourite action film (it’s Rollerball), and the one song he’d listen to for the rest of his life (it’s Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart), Colbert goes on to ask the question which inspired the whole questionnaire, dating back to a 2019 interview when the actor was asked, ‘What do you think happens when we die?’

He replied, ‘I know that the ones who love us will miss us.’ Reeves decided to leave that answer as is.
