Kevin Feige Says There Won't Be Another Avengers Movie

As Phase 4 of the MCU kicks off, fans have been eager for any hints they can get as to what may await them over the next couple of years.

Avengers: Endgame was, well, the endgame, according to Marvel boss Kevin Feige.

As Phase 4 of the MCU kicks off, fans have been eager for any hints they can get as to what may await them over the next couple of years.

Now, Feige has given his clearest hint yet that we're entering an entirely new saga, confirming that Endgame was indeed 'the final Avengers movie'.

In an interview aired during a new episode of the behind the scenes series Marvel Studios Assembled on Disney+, the producer delved into the thinking behind future plans for the franchise, explaining, 'Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now past their tenth anniversary and with the release of the final Avengers movie, we've finally completed a 22-movie Infinity Saga.'

Hinting that the time was right for the Avengers saga to make way for a new phase, which many fans believe is set to be dominated by the Eternals and a build up to an eventual Secret Wars movie, Feige remained characteristically vague as to what's going to happen in Phase 4.

'Where do we go from there? Where do we start? What we really wanted to do was two things: start fresh with whole new characters, new storylines, but also go back to some of the deepest richest mythology in all of Marvel Comics,' he said, per ComicBook.

It's not the first time Feige has poured cold water on a possible Endgame sequel, having told Collider in 2021 that time was needed to introduce the characters of the next phases before launching the next big crossover event.

'I think we want there to be a reasonable amount of time from the Endgame to start a new saga, which is already underway and already started, and then you need time, as you did in Phase 1, to build that saga before you start bringing everyone together,' he said.

As much as the Avengers will always remain the core of the MCU in the hearts of fans, in fairness, with only Hulk, Thor and Hawkeye remaining active from the original Avengers crew, it's not clear what an Avengers 5 movie would even look like without the rest of the gang.

With groundwork laid by Disney+ TV series like WandaVision and Loki, the MCU is set to follow up the runaway success of Spider-Man: No Way Home with three films in 2022: Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
