Marjorie Taylor Greene Has Reported Jimmy Kimmel To The Police

The US representative reported Kimmel over an alleged 'threat of violence'

US representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has reported Jimmy Kimmel to the police over what she described as a 'threat of violence'.

Greene's report came in response to a comment made by Kimmel during a monologue on his Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Tuesday (5 April), in which he joked about Greene’s comments on the process of confirming Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Kimmel drew attention to a tweet posted by Greene in which she accused Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, and Mitt Romney of being 'pro-paedophile' after they said they would vote in favour of the nominee, who has been put forward by Joe Biden.

The chat show host said Greene was 'especially upset' with the three senators who expressed their support for Jackson, and after reading out her tweet joked: "Where is Will Smith when you really need him?"

Smith, of course, made headlines across the globe recently for slapping Oscars presenter Chris Rock across the face for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Kimmel jokingly implied Smith should take similar action against Greene, but the Georgia representative made clear she did not find the humour in his comment.

Greene shared Kimmel's comment and tagged ABC, which hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live!, in a post on Twitter, writing: "@ABC, this threat of violence against me by @jimmykimmel has been filed with the @CapitolPolice."

In a comment to The Independent, a spokesperson for Greene said: “Our office takes all threats of violence towards the Congresswoman very seriously. Last night, Jimmy Kimmel called for violence to be committed against Congresswoman Greene. It will not be tolerated.”

Kimmel responded to the news of Greene's police report by sharing her post on Twitter, writing: "Officer? I would like to report a joke."

In a statement to UNILAD, Capitol police said: "We cannot confirm or discuss any potential investigations.”

UNILAD has also reached out to Jimmy Kimmel Live! for further comment.

Kimmel made further comments about Greene later in his monologue, implying the representative held questionable company as he said she is 'good pals with Matt Gaetz who is currently under investigation for trafficking minors for sex'.

"It's scum and scummer. Marjorie represents the 14th District of Georgia where the State Senate passed a bill that will limit discussions about race from kindergarten to 12th grade," Kimmel went on.

Gaetz has not been charged, but is under investigation by federal authorities with regards to whether he engaged in sex trafficking, obstructed justice, paid for sex, and had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. He has denied the accusations.
