Marlon Wayans Has Foul-Mouthed Response To White Chicks 2 Demands
Marlon Wayans has delivered a foul-mouthed response to people who keep pestering him to make a sequel to White Chicks.
Of course, the question of a sequel to the cult movie has been swirling for a good while now, with some calls starting as early as 2009, but so far nothing concrete has ever materialised.
Now, it seems as if Marlon Wayans – who co-wrote and starred in the original alongside brother Shawn – has given up on the idea altogether.
In case you want to remind yourself of the first film, here's the trailer.
Whilst it received incredibly negative reviews from critics, the original White Chicks was a commercial success, grossing well above the budget and garnering something of a cult status.
The film revolves around two black FBI agents – played by the Wayans brothers – who are tasked with taking two socialites to a fashion event despite a number of kidnappings.
The pair of women then suffer facial injuries and decide not to attend the event, leaving the Wayans brothers to dress up and pose as them in order to work out who is responsible for the kidnappings.
The premise is simple enough, and there’s nothing too difficult to follow.
The film also starred Busy Philipps, Jennifer Carpenter, Terry Crews, Jaime King, Frankie Faison, Lochlyn Munro, John Heard, Jessica Cauffiel, and Rochelle Aytes, to name a few.
It was directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans, another of the celebrity Wayans family.
Released in 2004, it grossed $113 million from a budget of $37 million, making it a commercial success despite the fact that the industry experts hated it.
However, Wayans is in no rush to get back into the make-up, detailing the seven-hour process to become the characters which ‘almost killed’ him and his brother.
When asked by GQ about the potential for another film, he said: "Makeup movies, until they learn how to digitally do it, special effects wise [no thanks]. That’s a lot of work.
"Everybody’s like, ‘Do White Chicks 2,’ I’m like, ‘F*** yourself, you do White Chicks 2! I’m doing Black man movies'."
In the time since the original, Wayans has flip-flopped on the prospect of a sequel.
Terry Crews said once that the sequel was happening, but there’s been no deal agreed.
Last year, Wayans did say that a sequel was ‘necessary’, although these latest comments do seem to dampen that sentiment a bit.
Honestly, we’ll just have to wait and see.
If the money is there, it's hard to imagine that a second film won't happen at some point.
