Rick and Morty’s season three premiere sent the world crazy for McDonald’s special edition Mulan Szechuan sauce.
The very few pots of the tangy plum sauce that are left in the world are like liquid gold, with one pot being sold on Ebay for $14,700.00 (£11,500).
The ‘Mulan Szechuan Dipping Sauce’, made in 1998, was sold after 187 bids, and the seller had a funny story for how he found it.
On listing, the seller wrote:
I just bought a really old car, while cleaning it I found a packet of this sauce. After watching the recent episode of Rick and Morty I went online to see if it was worth anything.Turns out it was.
Also, this comes with a packet of wasabi as well,
Of course if you don’t have a spare $15k you can always make your own…
It appears though that Rick isn’t the only one who’s been missing the promotional plum sauce, with fans starting a petition to bring back the delectable dipping sauce, a petition which currently stands at around 33,500 signatures.
According to Business Insider a corporate chef at McDonald’s has already tweeted that he’ll see what he can do to get the sauce back in stores.
With the live-action Mulan film coming out soon, it’s the perfect opportunity for Maccys to bring it back.
