MGK Wrote Latest Film Because He Thought Megan Fox Was Breaking Up With Him
Machine Gun Kelly thought he was getting dumped, so naturally he wrote an entire film off the back of it.
While attending the premiere of his upcoming comedy Good Mourning, the star – real name Colson Baker – admitted that he penned the movie while 'spiralling' over what he thought was a break-up text from Megan Fox.
MGK both directs and stars in the upcoming stoner comedy alongside fiancée Fox, Dove Cameron and Pete Davidson.
Check out the trailer below:
“I had written so many songs and done all these outlets that I was familiar with and I was spiraling so hard, I needed somewhere else to go with it. I was like, ‘I’m just gonna write a movie'," he explained. "I wrote the movie for her because she was unknowingly the cause of the spiral. She sent me a text just like in the movie."
The singer went on to explain how his character 'spirals over a text that he doesn’t really understand' that alludes to a possible breakup, admitting: "that was what was happening to me."
Luckily for Kelly, it was all one big misunderstanding. "Me and Megan talked. She was like, ‘All of this is in your head. What are you talking about?'
"And then I was like, ‘Oh, well I wrote this movie, so…'"
Good Mourning follows movie star London Clash (Kelly), who is left torn up after being made to choose between pursuing his true love or landing his dream role in a major motion picture.
"When movie star London Clash (Colson Baker) wakes up to an implied break up text from the love of his life, his world is turned upside down. And the timing couldn't be worse because the most important meeting of his career is scheduled for later that same day," the official synopsis reads.
"Compounded by chaotic roommates, and wildly unpredictable twists and turns, London's day keeps going downhill until ultimately, he is forced to choose between pursuing his one true love and landing a life-changing, starring role in a major motion picture."
Speaking at the premiere last week, MGK also shed light on Fox's reaction to his breakup scare-induced movie script.
"I went over to her porch and read it to her on the steps, and she was like, ‘This is what you were thinking the whole time?’," he said.
MGK and Fox got engaged back in January after over a year of dating and some pretty bizarre admissions (blood drinking, anyone?).
In a post announcing the big news, Fox shared a video of Kelly getting down on one knee, along with the caption: “Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.
"And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes… and then we drank each other’s blood 1.11.22.”
Good Mourning hits theatres and on-demand on 20 May.
