Netflix documentary exposes why owner of $20 million 'sky mansion' might never live in it

We all dream about an epic home worthy of the rich and famous.

However, you might want to rethink that after hearing about the billionaire who built a luxurious mansion on top of a skyscraper (yes, you read that right).

In fact, a new Netflix documentary has exposed why he might never live in the $20 million ‘sky mansion’. See for yourself below:

If you’ve never heard of Vijay Mallya, prepare to get a whole lot more invested.

The 67-year-old is a beer baron, having made his fortune selling alcohol under the Kingfish brand and also serving as the former chairman for United Spirits.

The good times kept flowing, with the Indian businessman later investing in an airline and F1 racing as well as creating his dream home 400ft above Bengaluru.

However, the bubble finally burst when Mallya was accused of laundering money.

Now, a new Netflix documentary explores how he defaulted on debts of more than $1bn (£824m) and now faces fraud charges.

Part of the Bad Boy Billionaires series, the episode also reveals why Mallya may never get to live in his incredible mansion – having fled to the UK in 2016.

With UK and Indian officials now negotiating his extradition, it is possible that the businessman will never live in his ‘sky mansion’.

Perched at the top of Kingfisher Towers, the mansion is spread across 40,000 square feet and set apart from the other homes below.

If that weren’t staggering enough, there are several gardens, an infinity pool and a helipad – just in case you wanted to avoid getting the elevator.

Though Mallya has yet to return to India, the company behind the ambitious build has previously said that it will hand it over once construction is complete.

Irfan Razack, the chairman of Prestige Estates Projects, said: “It was a challenge to construct the mansion on a huge cantilever at that height, but we have ensured we build it exactly the way it was conceived. It’s a complex structure and the finishing work is going on.

“We will finish the project as per contract and hand it over."

With the billionaire out of the country since 2016, we wonder who will be the first to live at this insane pad?
