Netflix viewers have been left horrified this week by a 'bone-chilling' true crime documentary that exposes a 'monster'.

The current talk of the town is Bad Surgeon: Love Under Knife, which tells the chilling story of Paolo Macchiarini in a three-part mini-series.
The Italian surgeon embodied a second chance at life through a revolutionary synthetic trachea transplant.
That did not exactly pan out though, as Alexander, who met Macchiarini in 2013, told USA Today: "He fooled his patients very much the same way he fooled me.

"They were convinced that he was the greatest hope of their loved ones surviving. He made them believe that he could help them the way he made me believe that he loved me and that he loved my daughter, and he was going to take care of us for the rest of our lives."
Instead, the Netflix doc states Macchiarini's actions on the operating table left some of his patients dead after he treated them as 'human lab rats'.
An official synopsis for the series reads: "Dr. Paolo Macchiarini is world-famous for his revolutionary stem cell-infused windpipe transplants.
"There’s just one problem: His patients keep dying."
After watching the series, many flocked to social media to discuss Macchiarini's shocking crimes with fellow viewers.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one person penned: " just watched Bad Surgeon on Netflix and holy sh*t, that is an insane and bone-chilling story, that actually happened!!! That dude is a monster."
A second added: "Horrifying on so many levels. I really hope the patients' families all get justice for their loved ones."
While a third remarked: "Watched it. 10/10 documentary!!"
The story told in Bad Surgeon may be pretty shocking, but that doesn't mean it's not an important one to tell.

Industry critics have been full of praise for the mini-series, with the Decider's Joel Keller penning: "The scope of Paolo Macchiarini’s likes is breathtaking, and Bad Surgeon: Love Under The Knife does a good job of explaining just how he was able to fool so many people."
