People are saying they'd 'die of a heart-attack' if 'alien' shown in clip was underneath their sofas

The 'alien' can be seen scuttling around a movie set in a pretty spine-tingling video

People have been left horrified after seeing a video of an 'alien' scuttling around menacingly - and rather fast.

A clip posted to social media shows the creature moving with a disturbing speed, appearing to accelerate alarmingly quickly as it terrorises a helpless film crew.

See it for yourself here:

Looks pretty damn creepy if you ask me - certainly not something you'd want to see coming at you in a dimly-lit spaceship corridor.

Just in case you hadn't already guessed, this is, of course, not actually a real alien but an animatronic which is being used as a prop in an upcoming film in the Alien franchise, Alien: Rommulus.

The prop depicts the infamous face-huggers, the first stage in the xenomorph's lifecycle after hatching.

They scuttle about before finding a victim whose face they latch on to, before dropping off after some time leaving the victim seemingly unharmed.

Of course, this is very much not the case, as actor John Hurt showed when his character became the first to suffer the grim fate that comes next.

Famously, none of the cast except Hurt were entirely sure what was going to happen in this moment, so that the reactions they gave on were genuine shock.

Given all that, seeing a face hugger scuttling around would be enough to make anyone scarper pretty sharpish, and the animatronic is just convincing enough to make you think, at least for a second, that it's real.

The video was shared by Alien: Rommulus director, Fede Álvarez, who wrote on his X post: "Playing with my favorite toy on set of Alien Romulus last summer.

"RC Facehugger created by the amazing team @wetaworkshop. Happy #AlienDay everybody!”

The film, which is coming out this year, takes place between the events of the first Alien and it's sequel, Aliens, and follows a group of young space colonists who come face-to-face with 'the most terrifying life form in the universe'.

But while Alvarez looked like he was having a whale of a time driving the remote-controlled prop around, some people took to the comments to share their horror.

After the video was reposted onto Reddit, one person wrote: "If they made this robotic facehugger for the public, how many people would die of a heart attack when it emerged from under the sofa?"

Another posted: "I know it’s fake but damn I’d run as fast"

Someone else suggested a frankly evil-sounding prank the prop could be used for, writing: "Set this up in an elevator. As soon as the doors open, have it race out and enjoy the mayhem."

While a fourth said on X: "Oh hell no that thing’s moving fast."

And a final responded: "This would freak people out."
