Hunger Games fans are currently questioning why a recently-surfaced deleted scene was omitted from the film’s franchise.
When you think of movies from the early 2010s, it’s impossible not to immediately recall the chokehold that Suzanne Collins’s young adult series, The Hunger Games, had.
Between 2012 and 2015, four films starring Jennifer Lawrence as the protagonist Katniss Everdeen and Josh Hutcherson as her character’s love interest, Peeta Mellark, were released via Lionsgate Films.
These were imaginatively named; The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2.

As the entertainment company gears up to release the franchise’s prequel movie, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, they’ve dropped a deleted scene from Mockingjay - Part 1 to get fans talking.
The 42-second deleted scene was posted via Lionsgate UK’s Twitter account with the caption: “Since you all loved the last one so much, here’s a Mockingjay - Part 1 deleted scene.”
In the clip, Katniss is seen getting her ‘make-up’ done by two Avoxes - rebels who are unable to speak as they’ve had their tongues cut out.
However, the pair were definitely not MUAs as one haphazardly brushes on blusher while the other goes in with a dark, unblended eyeshadow.

Katniss’ former advisor, Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks), questions the pair and asks, 'What are you savages doing?' before claiming that Katniss is the, 'face of a revolution'.
After dismissing the pair, Effie gets emotional and says: “Don’t worry Katniss, we’re going to make this work. For you, me, and for Cinna.”
Since the clip was posted to social media, fans have been going wild and have questioned why director Francis Lawrence decided to cut the scene from the dystopian movie.
One wrote: “ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHY DID YOU DELETE THIS WHAT.”

A second said: “This scene would’ve been so iconic if it was released! Definitely would’ve been part of the memorable moments of the show!”
“The movie was great, but a lot of these deleted scenes add so much more depth,” said another.
However, many believe that the Hunger Games scene should stay where it is - deleted.
“They were smart to leave it on the cutting room floor,” said one fan.

Another commented: “I’m kinda happy they didn’t put this in the movie because the amount of tears I would’ve been crying.”
A third said: “I’m glad it was deleted lol.”
The short clip comes ahead of the release of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes later this year.

The fifth instalment in the Hunger Games story is a prequel set 64 years before the events of the first film. It will follow the story of a young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) during the year of the 10th battle royale death match.
At 18, Snow finds himself as a mentor to District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), and he believes that he can turn the odds - and the whole of Panem - in her favour.
Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, directed by Lawrence, is set to release on November 17, 2023, and is being distributed via Lionsgate Films.
