Mayim Bialik won’t be returning as Jeopardy! host

Mayim Bialik has taken to social media to reveal the latest update on her return to host Jeopardy!

The 48-year-old actor and neuroscientist - best known for her role as Amy Farrah Fowler on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory - went on to host the syndicated version of the popular game show Jeopardy! in 2021.

While initially starting off just mainly hosting primetime specials and spin-offs, as well as making guest host appearances, Bialik went on to share the hosting position with Ken Jennings in 2022.

However, in May 2023, she announced she'd be temporarily leaving, and she's now provided the latest update on her hosting the show.

Bialik and Jennings were both nominated for for an Emmy for 'Outstanding Host for a Game Show'.

She temporarily left earlier this year in solidarity with the SAG-AFTRA strike - Bialik being a member of the union herself.

Jennings took over her role, filming the final four weeks of the game show's 39th season solo.

While Bialik seemingly only temporarily walked away at the time, she's since revealed it's a more permanent move.

In a statement to her social media platforms posted yesterday (15 December), Bialik addressed whether or not she's returning to the game show.

The post reads: "As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news.

"Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!

"I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family.

"For all of you who have supported me through this incredible journey and to fans, contestants, writers, staff and crew of America's Favorite Quiz Show, thank you."

A spokesperson for Sony said in a statement to Variety: "Mayim Bialik has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of ‘Jeopardy!’. We made the decision to have one host for the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated ‘Jeopardy!’.

"We are truly grateful for all of Mayim’s contributions to ‘Jeopardy!’, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials."
